A process to revise
the Countryside YMCA Torpedoes Swim Team Boosters Constitution was begun
in 2001 and has proceeded sporadically ever since. We picked up the
effort early this year and hope to have a completely revised and updated
constitution sometime in October 2008. The constitution as it
currently exists has several areas where it shows its age and
doesn’t fully reflect how the Swim Team Boosters and the Board has
grown to function. There are also many more positions of responsibility
that allow the team to function, but are not part of the elected Board.
The title of “Vice-President” is just one example of how
times have changed. While I hope to present a ready-to-approve document
at the Board meeting in October, there can be no formal adoption of a
new constitution until it has been first approved by the Countryside
YMCA Aquatic Committee and YMCA Board of Directors.
The Countryside YMCA Aquatic Committee approved the Constitution on
February 11th, 2009 and the YMCA Board of Directors was
scheduled to meet on February 19th.
This is the Swim Team Boosters Constitution as presented.
The Booster Board normally meets on the second Monday of each month in the classroom behind Holly Colón’s office next to the Family Aquatic Center.
The next meeting will be on the normal date.
